Our 4×4 vehicles are fully equipped and insured for travel through 14 African countries, including:

South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Angola, Lesotho, Eswatini, and the DRC (south of Kolwezi).

  • Coverage extends to damage resulting from unforeseen events, including both single vehicle and multiple vehicle accidents.
  • Our insurance includes protection against damage to windscreens.
  • Equipment inside the vehicle is insured in instances where there are visible signs of forced entry.

Terrain and Overlanding Coverage

Vehicles are fully insured for use on all types of terrain. This gives clients the confidence and flexibility to engage in responsible overlanding, no matter the nature and demands of the off-road environments encountered. Our vehicles are designed for these conditions, and the coverage matches their capabilities.

Repatriation and Assistance Network

If a damaged vehicle needs to be returned to South Africa, repatriation costs are fully covered. Our insurance underwriters maintain an extensive network of assistance throughout all the countries specified in our geographical coverage, ensuring support wherever your travels may take you.

Step 1: Confirm availability and receive a quotation by completing the online enquiry form.

Step 2: Once you accept the quotation, the following will be required:

A completed client details form (provided by our administration team)

A copy of your driver’s licence (and any additional drivers)

A copy of your passport

Yes, a refundable security deposit of R5,000.00 is required.

The deposit will be released once the vehicle has been returned in good condition.

Yes, additional drivers are permitted at no extra cost.

All additional drivers must be listed on the rental agreement and provide copies of their driver’s licences and passports.

Yes, our vehicles are comprehensively insured for travel across multiple Southern African countries.

Voetspore Rentals provides the required cross-border documentation at no additional charge.

Electronic funds transfers (EFT) to our business account.

Card payments, including: American Express, Scan to Pay, Apple Pay, Capitec Pay, Pay by Bank.

A secure online payment link can be generated on request.

Speed-point payments at our offices (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Mastercard, Visa).

No cash payments are accepted.

All rentals include unlimited kilometres.

Yes, all vehicles are comprehensively insured for full off-road use across multiple Southern African countries.

A detailed insurance breakdown will be provided with your quotation.

All vehicles are fully equipped for a self-drive camping safari.

This includes kitchenware, plush bedding, recovery gear, and camping equipment.

An itemised inventory list for each vehicle will be provided with your quotation.

Vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and must be returned full.

If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, refuelling charges may apply.

Yes, one-way rentals are available.

Any collection or return location other than Pretoria or Johannesburg may be subject to transfer surcharges.

Contact our team immediately and we will arrange roadside assistance.

If a replacement vehicle is required, our team will manage the logistics and transfer.

Pets may be permitted in select vehicles by prior arrangement.

Vehicles must be returned clean, and additional cleaning fees may apply.

In 2000, Johan Badenhorst and his team embarked on a groundbreaking overland expedition, tracing the ancient migration routes of elephants across Southern Africa. This remarkable journey, “In die Voetspore van die Grotes” (In the Footsteps of the Great Ones), spanned six countries and laid the foundation for what would become Voetspore.

Over the next 24 years, the Voetspore team travelled more than 250,000 kilometres through 41 African countries, documenting their adventures through 17 television series and 285 episodes. Each expedition was meticulously researched and produced to showcase Africa’s beauty, diversity, and untold stories, inspiring thousands to explore the continent for themselves.

From that passion, the Voetspore brand evolved into a hub for overlanding expertise, including a 4×4 fitment centre, adventure gear store, and guided Voetspore safaris.
